This is an easy day in the countryside near Tirana, built around a family winery. You walk the vineyard, see the cellar, and taste four Albanian wines with the family who grows the grapes and makes the wine. They tell you how it is done, and the wines are theirs, not someone else’s.

What else is in the day? The lake next to the winery, where you take kayaks out for a paddle, and a long organic lunch made from food grown on the farm. It is light, family-friendly adventure rather than anything hard, so most people can join in.

Who is it for? Couples, friends and families who want good wine, a bit of activity and a proper home-cooked meal in one trip. Pickup from Tirana is included. It works best from spring through autumn, when the vineyard is green and the lake is warm enough to enjoy.

  1. Stop 1: Pickup in Tirana

    Hotel pickup, meet your guide, and the ~45-minute drive through low hills to the family-owned winery.

  2. Stop 2: Vineyard walk & cellar

    A welcome glass, a walk through the vineyards with the host explaining the grapes and soil, then a cellar visit past the tanks, barrels and bottling line.

  3. Stop 3: Four-wine tasting

    A tasting flight at the family table — typically a Shesh i Bardhë, a Kallmet and two seasonal wines — with a closing glass of grape raki.

  4. Stop 4: On the lake

    A short transfer to the lake for 60–90 minutes on calm inland water — a stable sit-on-top kayak, or a boat ride for non-paddlers.

  5. Stop 5: Organic lunch & return

    Back to the winery for a full sit-down lunch grown on the property, then the drive back to Tirana for a ~17:30 drop-off.

No — these are stable sit-on-top kayaks on a calm inland lake, with no rapids or technical paddling. A short shore briefing covers everything, and non-paddlers can take the boat-ride alternative.

Four different wines: a Shesh i Bardhë (the indigenous white), a Kallmet (the signature Albanian red from the Shkodra region) and two more depending on what the family is pouring that vintage, plus a branded raki to close.

Is the lunch a full meal or just a snack?

A full three-course sit-down lunch: traditional salad and a meze plate of cheeses and preserves to start, a main of grilled meat with potatoes or freshwater fish, then dessert, with one more glass of wine. Most guests count it as the main meal of the day.

Can vegetarians do this?

Yes, on 24 hours’ notice. The main course swaps to a vegetable-and-cheese plate or a grain dish; the salad, meze and dessert are already vegetarian-friendly. Vegan is doable but tighter — ask at booking.

Is this okay for kids?

Minimum age 8 for the kayak; younger children join the boat-ride option with an adult. Wine tasting is 18+ — under-18s get juice or fresh drinks at the tasting table.

What if I don't drink alcohol?
