Tour Overview

This is real home cooking, taught by someone who does it every day. You start with fresh local ingredients and make traditional Albanian dishes by hand, from the dough for byrek to the fillings and sides. The host shows you each step and the small things that matter.

Is it good for beginners and families? Yes. You do not need any cooking experience. It is hands-on and relaxed, and kids can join in too. Everyone helps, then you share the meal you made together with a drink at the table.

What is included? The class, all the ingredients, and the meal you cook. Tell us about any dietary needs in advance. It is one of the most rewarding things to do in Tirana if you want to take a bit of Albania home with you, as recipes you can actually make.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dishes will we make?

Usually byrek (the spiral filo pie), fërgesë (baked peppers, tomato and cottage cheese) and petulla (fried dough), with the exact menu shifting by season and what is fresh.

Is it really hands-on?

Yes — you roll the dough, build the layers and do the cooking yourself with the host guiding you, rather than watching a demonstration.

How long is the class?

About 3 hours, including the cooking and sitting down to eat the full meal together at the end.

Is there a vegetarian option?

Yes, on 24 hours’ notice — most of the core dishes are vegetarian anyway, and the host adapts the menu for vegetarian or other dietary needs.

Can you handle allergies?

Yes — flag any allergies at booking with at least 24 hours’ notice and the host adjusts the menu accordingly.

Do we eat a full meal?

Yes — the class finishes with everyone sitting down to eat everything you cooked, with a glass of local wine or a raki.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes — children who enjoy helping in the kitchen do well, and the host adapts the tasks to age.

Do I get the recipes?

Yes — you leave with the recipes for the dishes you made so you can cook them again at home.
