Tour Overview

Albania’s Ionian coast is one of the last quiet diving spots in the Mediterranean. The water is clear and warm from late spring into autumn, and far less crowded than Greece or Croatia just across the channel. You dive over rocky reefs and drop-offs, through small sea caves, and past a few wrecks, with good visibility for most of the season.

Is it good for beginners? Yes. If you have never dived before, a certified instructor takes you on a guided first dive, sometimes called a discover scuba dive. You get a short safety briefing on land, then go in slowly with the instructor right next to you the whole time. No certificate and no experience needed. Already certified? You get guided dives at sites that match your level.

What is included? All the equipment, a certified instructor, and the boat out to the dive sites. It is a fun activity for couples, friends and families with older kids who want a real adventure on the water. Bring a swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen. The diving season runs from about May to October, when the sea is warmest and calmest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diving certification?

No — complete beginners can do a guided try-dive (a “discover scuba” session) after a briefing and shallow-water practice. Certified divers get guided dives matched to their level.

What will I see underwater?

Reefs, rocky walls and drop-offs, sea caves, and the occasional wreck — in clear, uncrowded water along the Ionian coast.

Is equipment included?

Yes — wetsuit, tank, regulator and mask are all provided, along with a boat transfer to the dive site.

Is it safe for beginners?

Yes — try-dives run with a certified instructor at small ratios, with a full briefing and shallow-water practice before the dive.

When is the best time to dive?

Late spring through autumn, when the water is warmest and visibility is at its best.

Where does it run from?

From dive bases on the Riviera near Saranda, Ksamil or Vlora; you meet at the base rather than being picked up at your hotel.

Is there a minimum age?

Try-dives have a minimum age (commonly 10), confirmed by the dive centre — ask at booking if diving with children.

What if the sea is rough?

Dives are only run in safe conditions; if the sea is too rough the dive is rescheduled or refunded.
