A private tour of Albania costs about EUR 4,000 for two people for 7 days in 2027 when it includes a licensed driver-guide, 4-star hotels, breakfast and dinner, and all entrance fees. That is roughly EUR 285 per person per day. Self-drive trips with local guides run EUR 120 to 180 per person per day, and 5-star trips with a private driver-guide start around EUR 500 per person per day. Couples, families and small groups who want a clear number before they commit. First-time visitors comparing quotes from several Albanian operators. Travelers deciding between self-drive, a private driver or a driver-guide. Groups of four to eight who want to know how the per-person price drops.
Backpackers on a bus-and-hostel budget. Travelers who only want a single day trip rather than a multi-day itinerary. Anyone looking for a fixed-date small-group departure price; see our multi-day tours instead.
Why we publish our prices
Most people who write to us ask the same thing before anything else. “Can you give me a ballpark?” “We are comparing a few local operators.” “We have no idea what to expect.” Fair enough. A lot of operators answer with “it depends” and a form to fill in.
It does depend. But you still deserve a number. So here are ours, based on the trips we actually build and run from Tirana. If you read nothing else, read the table.
What a private Albania tour costs per person per day
| Trip style | Hotels | Transport | Meals | Per person per day (2 travelers) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Self-drive with local guides | 3 to 4 star | Rental car you drive, local guides booked by us in Berat, Gjirokastra, Butrint | Breakfast | EUR 120 to 180 |
| Private driver plus local guides | 4 star | Private car and driver, local guides in the main sites | Breakfast and dinner | EUR 220 to 260 |
| Private driver-guide | 4 star, upgraded rooms | Licensed driver-guide, new SUV, with you all day | Breakfast and dinner | EUR 270 to 300 |
| Private driver-guide, luxury | 5 star, upgraded rooms | Licensed driver-guide, SUV | Breakfast, some farm-to-table dinners, wine tastings | EUR 500 and up |
These are per person for a couple. A group of four in one vehicle pays noticeably less per person, because the car and the guide are the same cost split four ways. A group of six to eight in a minivan drops further. More on that below.
All prices are in euros. Albania uses the lek, and 1 EUR is about 95 ALL, but nearly every hotel and tour price you will see is quoted in euros.
A real example: 7 days in Albania for two
This is the trip we quote most often, so here it is with the number attached.
Two travelers. Seven days. A private licensed driver-guide in a new Hyundai Santa Fe for the whole trip. Four-star hotels with breakfast and dinner. All entrance fees and the experiences on the route. Pick-up and drop-off included.
The route: Tirana, Kruja, Berat, Gjirokastra, the Blue Eye, Butrint, Ksamil, Saranda, Himara and Porto Palermo, the Llogara Pass, Vlora, and back to Tirana.
Price: about EUR 4,000 for the two of you. Around EUR 285 per person per day.
We also build this starting from the Vlora ferry port for travelers arriving from Brindisi, at the same price. Tell us your dates on our tailor-made tours page and we send the day-by-day version with the total.

What is included in that EUR 4,000
It is easier to compare quotes when you know what is inside them. In our standard private tour, the price covers:
- A licensed English-speaking driver-guide, with you from pick-up to drop-off
- A comfortable SUV, fuel, parking, tolls, and the driver’s own hotel and meals
- Six nights in 4-star hotels, usually with a room upgrade where the hotel allows it
- Breakfast every day and dinner every evening, often at a restaurant outside the hotel that we pick
- Entrance fees to Berat Castle, Gjirokastra Castle, Butrint National Park, the Blue Eye, Porto Palermo and the other sites on the route. Berat, Gjirokastra and Butrint are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites
- Any experiences written into the itinerary, for example a wine tasting near Berat or a boat trip from Saranda
- Airport or port transfers on day one and the last day
Not included: flights, lunches (we prefer to leave these flexible, and a good lunch on the Riviera is EUR 10 to 20 per person), travel insurance, tips, and drinks with dinner unless the itinerary says otherwise.
If a competitor’s quote is much cheaper, check whether the driver is licensed as a guide, whether dinners are in, and whether the entrance fees are in. That is usually where the gap hides.

What changes the price most
The number of people
The car and the guide cost the same whether two or four people sit in it. For the 7-day trip above, a party of four usually lands around EUR 190 to 210 per person per day instead of EUR 285. A group of six in a minivan can come down to EUR 160 to 180 per person per day at the same hotel level. See our guide to private group tours in Albania for the vehicle and room logistics.
Driver versus driver-guide versus local guides
A driver alone gets you from place to place safely and knows the roads. This is the setup behind our private and self-drive tours, where you choose how much guiding you want. A driver-guide does that and explains everything from the front seat, all day, every day. The middle option is our favorite for value: a private driver for the whole trip, plus a local guide in Berat, in Gjirokastra, and at Butrint. You meet people from the exact town you are standing in, and it costs less than a full-time driver-guide.
Hotel level
Albania’s 4-star hotels are good and fairly priced, typically EUR 80 to 140 per night for a double in 2027, more on the Riviera in July and August. Moving to 5-star and boutique properties roughly doubles the accommodation line. It also changes the feel of the trip, which is why our 11-day luxury tour starts at EUR 3,800 per person.
Season
July and August cost more, mainly because coastal hotels double their rates and the Riviera fills up. May, June, September and early October give you the same roads, warm sea from June onwards, and lower prices. If your dates are flexible, shoulder season is where your euro goes furthest. Our post on the best time to visit Albania goes month by month.
Meals
Breakfast only, half board, or full board. We usually recommend half board with dinners outside the hotel. Full board is possible, and for a beach-based honeymoon we build 7-night full-board trips at EUR 4,000 to 5,000 for two, with the hotel, meals, transfers and excursions inside that number. Ask for one through the tailor-made tours page and mention the occasion.

How this compares with our set itineraries
If you would rather not build from scratch, our published trips give you a clear benchmark. All per person, from:
- 8-day North Alps trip: EUR 1,100
- 9-day Riviera hiking trip: EUR 1,200
- 13-day Out of This World: EUR 1,800
- 14-day multi-country Balkans trip (Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro): EUR 2,000
- 20-day Balkans trip: EUR 2,950
- 11-day luxury tour: EUR 3,800
These run as small-group or private departures, so they are cheaper per person than a fully private tailor-made trip at the same hotel level. Browse them on our multi-day tours page.
Is a private tour worth it compared with doing it yourself?
For a couple, a self-planned trip with a rental car, 4-star hotels and paid guides at the big sites usually adds up to EUR 150 to 200 per person per day once you count the car, fuel, parking, the guides, and the hours spent booking. The private tour costs more. What you buy is a driver who handles the mountain roads and the parking in Berat’s old town, a guide who knows which castle gate is open, dinners picked by someone who eats there, and one phone number when something changes.
If you enjoy driving and planning, do it yourself and hire our local guides by the day. If you want to look out of the window, book the driver. Both versions live on the same private and self-drive tours page, so you can compare them side by side.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a private tour of Albania cost per day?
For two people in 2027, expect EUR 220 to 300 per person per day with a private driver or driver-guide, 4-star hotels, breakfast and dinner, and entrance fees included. Self-drive with local guides is EUR 120 to 180. Luxury trips with 5-star hotels start around EUR 500 per person per day.
How much is a 7-day private tour of Albania for 2 people?
About EUR 4,000 in total for a private driver-guide, 4-star hotels with breakfast and dinner, all entrance fees and the experiences on the route. That covers Tirana, Berat, Gjirokastra, the Blue Eye, Butrint, Ksamil, the Riviera and Vlora.
Is a 10-day trip just 10/7 of the price?
Roughly, yes, and usually slightly less per day. Longer trips spread the transfers and the first and last days over more nights, so the per-day cost drops a little.
Do I pay a deposit?
Yes. We confirm a trip with a deposit and the balance is due before arrival, with the exact terms written on the quote. Cancellation terms depend on the hotels’ own policies, which we pass on without adding our own penalties.
Can I pay in euros?
Yes, and we invoice in euros. On the ground, cash in lek is useful for small purchases, but cards work in cities and most hotels.
What is the cheapest way to see Albania with a guide?
Join one of our small-group departures, or self-drive and book our local guides by the day in Berat, Gjirokastra and Butrint. Both cost far less than a fully private driver-guide.
Are prices higher in July and August?
Hotel prices on the coast can double. Guide and vehicle costs stay the same. If you can, travel in June or September.
Does the price include tips?
No. Tipping is appreciated but not expected. Around EUR 10 to 20 per day for a driver-guide is common.
When we design private tours for guests, we find the question underneath "how much" is usually "will we be overcharged because we are foreigners". Here is the honest picture. Albania is still cheaper than Croatia or Greece for hotels and food. Private guiding is not dramatically cheaper, because a good licensed guide is a skilled person who works long days, and there are not many of them. So a private tour of Albania costs less than the same trip in Italy, but not half. In our field experience, when a quote is half, something has been left out.
