Ksamil, Saranda & Blue Eye Day Trip from Tirana

One long, very rewarding day: out of Tirana at 6 AM, into Ksamil’s Caribbean-blue water by midday, coffee on the Saranda promenade, and the Blue Eye spring before the return. Orgest guides; the Sprinter does the rest.

Tour Overview

The south of Albania barely looks real in photos — and turns out even better in person. Ksamil’s water genuinely is that turquoise; the Blue Eye spring genuinely is that blue. On a day this long you get all of it — Riviera coastline, white-sand beaches, the laid-back rhythm of Saranda, and one of Albania’s most photographed natural sights — without basing yourself in the south overnight.

Your guide Orgest, fluent in English and Italian, meets you for a 06:00 pickup in Tirana or Durrës. It is about 4.5 hours south through changing landscapes to Ksamil, where you get 3.5 hours of free time to swim, have a seafood lunch, take an optional boat to the islands, or simply sit on the sand. Mid-afternoon you continue along the coast to Saranda for 45 minutes on the promenade — coffee, photos, a relaxed pause.

Then it is 45 minutes inland to the Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër), where you have around 1h45 including a short guided walk to the spring; swimming is allowed in designated areas when local rules permit. Around 19:00 you begin the roughly 4-hour return drive, with drop-off at your Tirana or Durrës hotel near 23:00. What makes it work is local knowledge — the right Ksamil spot when it is busy, the Saranda coffee corner with the view, and when to reach the Blue Eye to dodge the crowd.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the day?

16.5 hours door-to-door — pickup at 06:00, drop-off around 23:00. About 9 hours is driving (4.5h south, 1h coast, 45 min to the Blue Eye, 4h back); the rest is time at the three stops.

Is pickup included from my hotel?

Yes — free pickup and drop-off from any hotel or address in Tirana or Durrës. The exact time is confirmed the day before via WhatsApp.

How much time do I get at each stop?

Ksamil 3.5 hours (the big stop), Saranda 45 minutes, and the Blue Eye 1h45. The rest of the day is driving.

Can I swim at all three stops?

Definitely at Ksamil, and sometimes at the Blue Eye depending on local regulations (the water is cold year-round). Saranda is a 45-minute coffee and photo stop, not a swim stop.

Are meals included?

No — bring some Lek for a seafood lunch in Ksamil and a coffee in Saranda. The van also stops at a service area on the way down and back.

What language is the tour in?

English by default, and Orgest is fluent in Italian too — let us know your preferred language when you book so he can balance the narration.

Is the tour suitable for children?

There is no minimum age, but the day is long for kids under 6 or 7. Older children generally love Ksamil and the Blue Eye. A child rate (€34) applies — confirm the age bracket when you book.

When does this tour run?

Daily, April through October. We do not run it November–March because Ksamil’s beaches close for swimming and the day’s main appeal goes with them.
