Trip Details

Climb aboard a pirate ship on a Vlora Boat Tour at the Vlora waterfront and get ready for a full day on the Ionian Sea that blends history, nature, and a playful pirate spirit. The ship departs from the Port of Vlora, where you’ll meet the crew, find your spot on deck, and set sail along Albania’s wild coastline, officially under pirate rules—even if the real captain happens to be a very confident monkey 🙂

Vlora Boat Tour: Pirate Ship Experience

As the ship cruises across the deep blue Ionian Sea, the first destination comes into view: Sazan Island, once a top-secret military base during the Cold War. You’ll go ashore and explore parts of the island on foot, passing abandoned bunkers, tunnels and military buildings while hearing stories about its strategic past. It’s a rare place where history, silence and sea views all meet in one spot.

Back on board, the pirate ship continues along the coast toward the impressive Haxhi Ali Cave. You can have an optional tour inside the cave with our small boat.

The boat approaches the entrance of this massive sea cave, giving you time to admire its scale, take photos and hear the legend behind the pirate it’s named, after a fitting stop for a pirate ship, even if today’s crew is more friendly than fearsome.

The journey then leads to the untouched Karaburun Peninsula, Albania’s only marine national park. Here, you’ll spend several relaxed hours swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing or simply enjoying the clear water and dramatic cliffs far from crowded beaches. An optional lunch can be served onboard, making it easy to enjoy a meal without leaving the sea or the pirate mood behind.

In the late afternoon, the ship sails back toward Vlora, passing rugged coastline and open water one last time. By the time you return to the port, you’ll have explored secret islands, swum in pristine bays, and learned that pirate ships are much more fun when the captain has fur.
