Leave the city behind and head north from Tirana toward the heart of the Alps on a full-day journey to Theth National Park Albania. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, with a short stop along the way in Shkodra before continuing deeper into the mountains. As the road climbs higher, the scenery becomes more dramatic, leading to Qafë Thore Pass, one of the most scenic viewpoints of the day, where wide alpine valleys and sharp peaks open up in every direction.
Exploring Theth National Park Albania
Descending into Theth village, you’ll arrive in a quiet mountain settlement surrounded by towering peaks, traditional stone houses, and wooden fences that give the village its timeless character. You’ll have time to walk through the village at a relaxed pace, taking in the peaceful atmosphere before heading out to one of the area’s natural highlights, the Blue Eye of Theth. Reaching the Blue Eye involves a moderate hike of around 1.5–2 hours round trip, following forest paths and river scenery until the crystal-clear spring appears, glowing in deep shades of blue beneath the cliffs. The water is cold, incredibly clear, and very convincing if you’re considering a quick dip even if only for your feet.
After time to relax and enjoy the surroundings, the visit continues with stops at some of Theth’s cultural landmarks, including the historic Kulla e Ngujimit, which tells the story of traditional highland life, and the iconic stone Theth Church, set against an impressive alpine backdrop. In the afternoon, you’ll begin the scenic return journey to Tirana, arriving in the evening after a long but rewarding day spent in one of Albania’s most striking mountain landscapes.
