Continue on an unforgettable Theth National Park day trip into the heart of the majestic Albanian Alps. This itinerary promises a harmonious blend of breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural immersion and invigorating outdoor adventure, all seamlessly arranged for your comfort and enjoyment.
Your day begins with a tranquil coffee break in the historic city of Shkodra, where you can sip your drink while taking in the picturesque views of the Buna River flowing from vast Lake Shkodra. This peaceful start sets the tone before heading into the mountains. As you continue climbing, you’ll reach Qafe Thore Pass, one of the highest and most scenic points of the journey, offering awe-inspiring panoramic views of deep valleys and dramatic alpine peaks, a truly Instagram-worthy moment!
Upon arrival, you’ll descend into the serene Theth village, nestled within the verdant Theth National Park. Immerse yourself in its tranquil atmosphere, admiring traditional stone houses (kullas) and charming wooden fences as you stroll through its unpaved streets. A highlight of your visit will be a scenic hike to the renowned Blue Eye (Syri i Kalter). This natural spring boasts crystal-clear blue waters, framed by wild nature and towering cliffs. The moderate 1.5-2 hour round-trip hike culminates in a truly spectacular natural wonder.
After a well-deserved free time to relax, you’ll delve deeper into Theth National Park, where nature intertwines with rich heritage and unique highland architecture. Discover iconic landmarks such as the historic Lock-In Tower (Kulla e Ngujimit), a testament to Albania’s past and the picturesque stone church of Theth. Finally, bid farewell to the pristine beauty of Theth and begin a comfortable return drive to Tirana, carrying unforgettable memories of this hidden gem in the Albanian Alps.
The hike to the Blue Eye is generally considered moderate, taking around two hours round-trip with some uneven terrain.
The road to Theth has been significantly improved in recent years but still involves mountain driving with curves. Our experienced drivers ensure a safe journey.
The water at both locations is very cold, even in summer! Some brave souls do take a quick dip, but it's more for admiring the beauty. Swimming is at your own risk.
Due to the long day, travel times, and moderate hiking, this tour is generally better suited for older children (e.g., 10+) who are accustomed to walking and longer journeys.
Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users, as the transportation vehicle is not equipped for wheelchair access.

I wish we had made it to the Blue Eye. Otherwise, everything was stunning.
Perfect if you love nature and hiking. Less ideal if you want a more relaxed experience.
Too much time on the road. Still, it’s worth it for the scenery.
