Come Solo, Leave with a Crew: From rooftop raki to beach bonfires, this trip is packed with moments that turn strangers into travel friends for life — Perfect for Solo Travel Albania.
Do, Don’t Just See: Cook seafood you caught, carve your own souvenir, paddle to hidden coves and dance to live music under the stars.
Epic Albania, Zero Hassle: Living castles, turquoise springs, mountain passes and secret beaches, all lined up with private transport, great stays and plenty of time to chill.
Language Albanian is the official language. English is widely spoken in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas — especially in the cities and along the Riviera. Your guide speaks fluent English throughout the tour. German-speaking guides are available if the group is formed with enough German speakers — contact us to discuss.
Currency Albania uses the Albanian Lek (ALL). Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants, but having some Lek is useful for markets, smaller cafes, and tips. ATMs are available in all cities on this route. Cash is still king in Albania — always carry some, especially in smaller towns.
Getting There You will fly into Tirana International Airport (TIA — Nënë Tereza). There are direct flights from most major European cities including London, Rome, Milan, Vienna, Frankfurt, Istanbul, and many more. The airport is 17 km from central Tirana. Your private airport pickup is included from Day 1 — simply share your flight details with us after booking and we handle the rest.
SIM Card & Connectivity Buy a local Albanian SIM card at the airport or in Tirana on Day 1 — they are very cheap and data is affordable. ALBtelecom, Vodafone Albania, and ONE are the main networks. Having local data is useful for maps, translation, and staying in the group WhatsApp chat. Most hotels and restaurants have WiFi.
Health & Safety Albania is one of the safest countries in Europe for tourists. Petty crime is rare, and Albanians are famously warm and welcoming to visitors. Tap water is generally not recommended for drinking — bottled water is cheap and widely available. No vaccinations are required for EU/UK/US travellers, though standard travel health precautions apply. Always carry travel insurance — see our cancellation policy for details.
Tipping Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. A general rule: round up the bill or leave 5–10% at restaurants. For your guide, a tip at the end of the tour is a kind gesture if you feel they went above and beyond — which they will.
Albania as a Destination Albania is Europe’s most underrated destination right now. It has the beaches of Greece, the history of Italy, the mountains of Switzerland, and prices that feel like 10 years ago. For solo travellers especially, it is a revelation — locals are genuinely interested in visitors, conversation flows easily, and the country rewards curiosity at every turn. This tour is designed to make sure you see the real Albania, not just the highlights.
What is the Solo Travel Albania Tour? This is an 11-day guided group tour designed specifically for solo travellers who want to explore Albania while meeting like-minded people. It combines Albania’s best cultural sites, coastal beaches, local food experiences, and social moments into a carefully paced journey. Unlike standard group tours where you simply visit places together, this tour is built around genuine connection — from the welcome rooftop dinner on Day 1 to the farewell party on Day 10. You come alone and leave with a crew.
Is this tour only for solo travellers? Primarily yes, but not exclusively. The tour is designed with solo travellers in mind, and the social structure, room arrangements, and activities all reflect that. However, couples, friends travelling together, and occasionally families also join this tour — as long as they fit the group dynamic and age range, they are very welcome. The vibe is inclusive, relaxed, and friendly regardless of how you arrive.
How is this tour different from other solo travel tours in Europe? Most solo travel tours are simply open group tours that anyone can join — there is no particular thought given to how people will connect. This tour is built from the ground up around bonding. Every day includes at least one shared experience that naturally brings people together — a cooking class, a beach bonfire, a rooftop dinner, a rafting adventure, a horse ride through a valley. The guide is experienced not just as a local expert but as a social facilitator who creates an environment where connection happens naturally, without pressure. You are never forced to socialise — but it will happen anyway.
What is the age range and how are groups formed? The tour is designed for solo travellers aged 25 to 65. We form age-matched groups to keep the dynamic comfortable and avoid large age gaps. We typically run two group types — one for travellers roughly in the 25–45 range and one for travellers in the 45–65 range, though this is flexible depending on bookings. We also have a dedicated group specifically for travellers aged 45–65, which launched after strong demand from that age group. When you enquire, we will discuss which upcoming departure best matches your age and travel style. We strongly recommend contacting us before booking to find the best fit for you.
How many people are on this tour? This is a small group tour with 8 to 16 participants. The small size is intentional — it creates the right dynamic for genuine connection without feeling like a bus tour. Large enough to have energy and variety, small enough that everyone knows each other by Day 2.
When does this tour run and when should I book? The tour runs from mid-April to mid-October. We run monthly group departures throughout the season. The best months for beach days are June, July, August, and September. The best overall balance of weather, fewer crowds, and lush scenery is May, June, and September. Contact us first before booking so we can match you with the right group and departure date for your age group and travel style.
What is the price and what does it include? The tour price is €1,600 per person sharing a room. This includes:
Not included: international flights, personal expenses, travel insurance, optional activities (SUP, horse riding), and single room supplement.
What are the hotels like? We select boutique and comfortable hotels in prime locations at every stop. In Tirana for example we use properties like the Golden City Center Hotel or Destiny Hotel & Spa, chosen for their central location, comfort, and atmosphere. In other cities and the coast we apply the same standard — well-located, comfortable, and with character. Mountain guesthouses where applicable are family-run, clean, warm, and full of local personality.
Do I have to share a room? Yes, rooms are shared by default — double or twin rooms shared with another guest of the same gender. In some hotels triple rooms are also used. If you want your own private room throughout the tour, a single room supplement of €400 applies (for July and August this increases slightly — please confirm at time of booking). Many solo travellers choose the shared option as it is a great way to get to know a fellow traveller from Day 1.
Can I request a roommate preference? Yes — once the group is formed we do our best to match roommates by age, gender, and any preferences you share with us. Just let us know when you book.
What activities are included and what is optional? All activities listed in the day-by-day itinerary are included in the tour price, with two exceptions: SUP paddleboarding and horse riding are optional paid extras organised with local instructors and not included in the base price. Everything else — the boat day, cooking class, rafting, cable car, polyphonic show, gliko workshop, beach bonfire, sunset cocktails, city tours, castle entries — is all included.
What if I don’t want to participate in a particular activity? No pressure, ever. If an optional activity is not for you — or even if one of the included activities simply does not appeal on a given day — you can stay behind with the rest of the group who also prefer to skip it. Optional activities like SUP and horse riding are run by local specialist instructors, so your guide and the non-participating group members will be doing something else nearby. You are never left alone and never made to feel awkward for opting out.
How does the social side work? Is it forced? Not at all. The social atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and completely pressure-free. Your guide is experienced at breaking the ice naturally — through shared meals, fun activities, and good conversation — without making anyone feel put on the spot. By the end of Day 1, most guests are already relaxed and chatting. By Day 3, the group has its own dynamic. There are no awkward team-building exercises — just genuinely good experiences shared with good people.
Will there be evenings where I can have time alone? Yes. Not every evening is a group event — some nights are free for you to explore at your own pace, have a quiet dinner, or simply rest. The itinerary balances social moments with personal freedom throughout.
What happens after the tour? On the final day, the group WhatsApp chat goes live — so the photos, inside jokes, and plans keep flowing after everyone heads home. Many guests from this tour stay in touch, meet up in their home countries, and even travel together again. Come solo, leave with a crew — that is not just a tagline.
Is Albania safe for solo travellers? Yes — Albania is one of the safest countries in Europe. Crime against tourists is extremely rare, and Albanians are famously hospitable and welcoming. As a solo traveller on this tour you have the additional reassurance of always being with your group and guide. You will never be in an unfamiliar place alone unless you choose to be.
I have never travelled solo before — is this tour right for me? This is actually a perfect first solo travel experience. You get the freedom of travelling alone — meeting new people, exploring on your own terms — with the safety net of a structured tour, a professional guide, and a carefully matched group of people in a similar life stage. Many guests on this tour are first-time solo travellers. By the end you will wonder why you waited so long.
Will I feel out of place if I am older or younger than most of the group? We work hard to prevent this by forming age-matched groups. When you contact us before booking, we discuss the upcoming departures and match you with the group that best fits your age and travel style. If a particular month’s group skews younger or older than you, we will tell you honestly and suggest a better departure date.
What if I am not very social or consider myself introverted? You are very welcome on this tour. The social moments are built into enjoyable activities — a cooking class, a boat day, a sunset drink — so connection happens through doing things together, not through forced socialising. Introverted guests often tell us this tour was exactly right for them because the structure removes the awkward “trying to meet people” part entirely.
How do I book this tour? We strongly recommend contacting us before booking to discuss which departure date and group is the best fit for you. You can reach us via WhatsApp, email at info@inalb.al, or through the enquiry form on the tour page. Once we confirm the right group for you, booking is simple and straightforward.
How far in advance should I book? As early as possible — especially for the peak summer months of June, July, and August, which fill quickly. A minimum of 6 weeks in advance is recommended. Some departures fill 2–3 months ahead. Earlier booking also gives you more time to prepare, arrange travel insurance, and get to know your group before departure.
What is the cancellation policy? Please refer to our full cancellation policy on the Terms and Conditions page. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance before booking, which covers you in case of cancellation due to illness, flight issues, or unforeseen circumstances.
Can I extend my trip before or after the tour? Absolutely — many guests arrive a day or two early or stay on after the tour ends to explore more. We can help arrange extra nights in Tirana or any other city, additional experiences, or connections to other destinations in Albania or the Balkans. Just let us know and we will take care of it.
Is the single supplement always €400? The single supplement is €400 for most of the season. Please confirm the exact amount at time of booking as this may vary slightly for peak months. If you are happy to share a room, no supplement applies and we will match you with a suitable roommate from the group.
