Step into our inviting kitchen and feel the passion for food that defines Albania. You’ll put on an apron and quickly become an Albanian culinary artisan, guided by experienced local chefs. First, you’ll master time-honored dishes like Lakror, learning to stretch delicate pastry and create savory fillings. Furthermore, you’ll discover the secrets behind Tave Kosi, Albania’s beloved national dish of tender lamb with a creamy yogurt sauce. You’ll also create Fergese, a delightful medley of peppers, tomatoes and local cheese.

Traditional Cooking Class in Tirana

11:00 AM – Meet at the InAlb meeting point

  • Gather behind the National Opera House, where your host will welcome you.

 

11:10 AM- Arrival at the Cooking Class Restaurant

  • After a brief 10-minute walk, arrive at the traditional restaurant hosting the cooking class.

 

11:10 AM- Cooking Class at a Traditional Restaurant  

  • Participate in a two-hour hands-on cooking class in the best traditional restaurant in Tirana, where you'll learn to prepare traditional Albanian dishes under the guidance of experienced chefs. Afterward, enjoy the meal you've crafted.

Dishes You'll Be Preparing:

  • Byrek

A savory pastry made with thin layers of dough (phyllo) filled with ingredients like cheese, spinach, or ground meat. Baked until golden and crispy, resulting in a flaky texture that complements the savory fillings.  

  • Tavë Kosi

A traditional Albanian dish featuring lamb and rice baked in a mixture of yogurt and eggs. The casserole offers a creamy texture and tangy flavor from the yogurt, making it a beloved comfort food in Albania.  

  • Fërgesë

A popular dish from central Albania, comprising peppers, tomatoes, onions, and cheese. Enjoyed both hot and at room temperature, it's commonly served with bread or as a side to meat dishes. These dishes offer a glimpse into Albania's rich culinary traditions, highlighting the use of fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations.

 

13:10 PM- Final Reflections and Conversations

  • Conclude the cooking class with discussions about the dishes prepared and insights into Albanian culinary traditions.

 

13:20 PM- Return to the meeting point

  • After the enriching culinary experience, take a 10-minute walk back to the InAlb meeting point, concluding the itinerary.
