9:00 AM- 9:15 AM- Skanderbeg Square

Start your day at the heart of Tirana, Skanderbeg Square, a vibrant hub that embodies the spirit of Albania. Admire the towering statue of the national hero, Skanderbeg, a symbol of freedom and resistance. 

 

9:15 AM – 9:45 AM – Et'hem Bey Mosque

Step into history at the Et'hem Bey Mosque, a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture adorned with frescoes. Take a moment to appreciate the mosque’s serene atmosphere and its role as a cultural treasure.  

 

9:45 AM – 10:00 AM – National Theatre of Opera and Ballet

Take a brief stop at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre, an essential cultural landmark in Albania.

 

10:05 AM – 10:35 AM – Kadare Studio House

Visit the museum in the former apartment of renowned writer Ismail Kadare. Gain insights into his life and literary works.

 

10:45 AM – 11:15 AM – Pedestrian Street "Murat Toptani"

Relax along the pedestrian street, enjoy a brief break or coffee at a nearby café.

12:00 PM – 12:30 PM – Departure for the Agrotourism near Petrela Castle

Leave Tirana behind and head toward the serene village of Petrela, located amidst lush hills. Enjoy the scenic drive, as you approach an enchanting agrotourism experience nestled in the heart of nature.

 

12:30 PM - 1:00 PM – Explore the Agrotourism

Stroll around the farm, immersing yourself in its vibrant atmosphere. Observe the animals roaming freely and engage in interactive activities like feeding the goats or playing with the rabbits. You can also step inside the greenhouses to see where fresh produce is grown. For a more hands-on experience, participate in a cheese-making session, learning how to create traditional dairy products using milk sourced from the farm.

 

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM – Lunch 

The restaurant offers organic dishes prepared with ingredients grown on-site. Taste Albanian specialties such as fërgesë, savory byrek, or tender slow-cooked lamb, paired with fresh salads and home-baked bread. The setting is lively and refreshing, with rabbits, ducks, goats and other farm animals adding charm to the ambiance. Greenhouses filled with vegetables and herbs complete the picture of a true Albanian countryside escape.  

 

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Petrela Castle

After lunch take a short hike up to Petrela Castle, a medieval fortress perched atop a hill. As you ascend, take in the stunning vistas of Tirana and the surrounding countryside. The castle, dating back to the 6th century, was once part of Skanderbeg’s defense system during the Ottoman invasions. Explore its stone walls, ancient towers and captivating history. From the top, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. Don’t forget to capture photos of this magical setting!

 

4:00 PM- 4:30 PM- Return to Tirana

Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users, as the transportation vehicle is not equipped for wheelchair access and several key sites on the itinerary are not easily accessible due to stairs, uneven surfaces, or lack of ramps.

Perfect for someone wanting to see both Tirana’s cultural side and the countryside. The only small issue was the hike to the castle, beautiful but a bit challenging in the heat. Everything else was very enjoyable.
